FAQ
Some frequently asked questions about our new podcast. If you have a question, send us an email at DeathStarD@gmail.com. If it gets asked frequently enough, we might just put it up here on this page.
Why do a podcast?
Simply put, our guys love talking. Talking about the glory days, talking about getting fat, talking about body hair… just talking. One of their favorite topics is BYU sports. It seems like there’s always a load of topics to discuss after every game, and Adam thought it would be cool to record some of these conversations so everyone could listen in. Jeris quickly came on board, and Trevor followed like a doe-eyed puppy dog.
What does the Death Star D crew talk about, usually?
Right now the podcasts are going to be BYU heavy. But you’ll also get a lot of other stuff sprinkled in there. If you have any suggestions, send ‘em on over to DeathStarD@gmail.com.
What does Death Star D mean?
Back in their playing days, the guys had a mean intramural flag football team at BYU. “Death Star D” was their code word for an all-out blitz. Everyone on defense rushed the QB, screaming “Free Meal!” It usually ended up in a touchdown for the other team, but for one split second it meant absolute raw fear for the opposing quarterback. Those are the feelings the guys want to inspire with their podcast. Watch out: they’re comin’ for ya.
What is Blackopintobeans?
Occasionally on the show you’ll hear the guys refer to “Blackopintobeans?”. That was the name of their flag football team (perhaps the best flag football team in the history of BYU intramural sports). The name Blackopintobeans? comes from our favorite question when ordering food at Cafe Rio. Listen for it next time you go. You’ll crack a smile, guaranteed. Note: When making reference to the team, voice inflection is very important. Blackopintobeans? is a team name, but it’s also a question. Use your voice accordingly.
How can we follow the podcast?
There are all kinds of ways. First, all new episodes will be posted here (DeathStarD.wordpress.com). Also, you can subscribe to the podcast on iTunes. You can follow DSD on Twitter (@DeathStarD, @aolsen, @jerishobbs and @triznaynay), and if they get popular enough the guys might even set up a MySpace page.
What’s the deal with all the nicknames?
It’s true. Sometimes (not unlike war veterans, police officers, the cast of Boy Meets World or other groups who have lived through severe trauma) we revert back to our college days and call each other by our nicknames. So you don’t get lost, here is a list of some of the more common nicknames you might hear on the show:
Adam: Hambone, Hammy, A-hole, A-bomb, Don Carlos
Trevor: Trizz, Triz, Triznaynay, Long Ball, Julian
Jeris: Jerry, Jer-bear, Pony, Jer-*ss
